The A's Welcome the Somerville Expos to the Yawkey League with an Onslaught

ATBC arrived Wednesday night at Rogers Park in Brighton and squared off against the Somerville Expos. The A’s took no prisoners in this matchup, blowing out Somerville 14-3, spraying runs, strikeouts, and web gems across the dandelion-infested diamond.

Jay Gamboa did his thing tonight. He struck out 13, walked 2, and allowed only 4 hits. His fastballs hissed towards batters all night long, leaving the Somerville Expos with no answers.

The A’s cruised into the sixth inning with a 6-1 lead and left with a 14-1 lead. The first six hitters scored after stringing along four hits, knocking the game out of reach. Brett Julian displayed true old man strength hitting a rocket over the left fielder’s head and legging out a double. On defense, he scampered around the infield with agility that resembled an injured rabbit, scooping up baseballs and throwing guys out on the run.

Birthday boy Jake Beane turned 25 on Wednesday, and he celebrated by hitting a missile that rolled into the dark corner of Rogers Park. The Expos left fielder wrestled with a spectator’s dog for the ball, snapping it in as fast as he could while shaking off the furry beast. Beanie proved to be too fast, rounding all four bases and firing up the squad even more in what was an electrifying night for the crew.

Zach Hatfield capped off the sixth with a homer after the A’s batted around, and Jay Gamboa finished what he started in the seventh. ATBC is now 11-1-1 and will face off against McKay Club at English High School on Friday night. First pitch is at 8 PM.
