2022 League Award Winners

Manager of the Year

Coach Joe O'Hara wins manager of the year for the second year straight. He lead Al Thomas to back to back championships after taking the finals 4-1 over Brighton Black Sox.  Joe has been with ATBC since 1982 as a player, coach, executive, and franchise holder.  He's a YBL HoF'er and a part of the ATBC HoF.  This is Joe's 7th Manager of the Year award.

League MVP

Al Thomas catcher, Cam Plank took home the league MVP this year after leading the league in batting average, hits, doubles, RBI's and OBP.  He also posted a .992 fielding percentage behind the plate throwing out 36% of base stealers.  His if the first catcher to win MVP in the YBL since Tony Lafolla in 2009.  Congrats on a monster season planky, lets get another ring. 

Franchise of The Year

Coming off a 21 win regular season and 4-0 sweep in the 2021 Finals, Al Thomas repeated with 21 wins in the regular season and took the finals 4-1 over BBS.  Al Thomas returned a huge part of their core for the 2022 season and they look to build on it for the upcoming season.  Roll A's.   

Jay Gamboa - P

Jay Gamboa, the ace of the rotation won every other award you could win and that's why he has his own section.  He was named Pitcher of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Post Season MVP, and the only rookie on Al Thomas to be named to the 2022 All Rookie Team.  Jay dominated the league with a 0.33 ERA and 84 SO's in 42 innings pitched in the regular season. His dominance continued into the post season where he had a 1.35 ERA and 40 SO's in 20.2 innings pitched with 3 wins and 1 save.  Stay classy, Jay.

Gold Glovers

Al Thomas had 4 gold glovers for the 2022 season, including catcher Cam Plank, SS Brett Julian, CF Zach Hatfield, OF Kevin Falvey.  Cam Plank C had a .992 FPC with 238 PO in 22 regular season games.  Brett Julian SS led the charge at his position for the 2nd year in a row.  Falvey and Hatfield both in their 2nd seasons led the outfield with their burning speeds and crazy diving catches. 

Silver Sluggers

Al Thomas had 4 Silver Sluggers for the 2022 season as well and they were our 1 through 4 hitters. Silver Sluggers included catcher Cam Plank, CF Zach Hatfield, OF Kevin Falvey and 1B/OF Jake Beane. Cam Plank led all of the YBL with a .506 BA, 40 hits, 9 doubles and .557 OBP.  Zach Hatfield batted .446 with 5 HR's and 25 stolen bases out of the lead off spot.  Kevin Falvey batted .400 with 3 HR's with 26 hits and 22 RBI's during the regular season and in the post season he batted .370 with 2 HR's.  Jake Beane finished the regular season with a .385 BA and 30 hits and the postseason with a .385 BA.
