The Yawkey Baseball League will be playing against the Central New England Baseball Association (CNEBA) on Friday, July 21st @ Adams Park in the 2023 All Star Game
(15 Vietnam Veterans Drive Quincy, MA 02170). The game will feature the best players from each team in the YBL with Al Thomas Baseball Club having 6 players nominated to the team.
Coach/Manager Joe "Chief" O'Hara was nominated to be the coach of the 2023 YBL All Star Team after posting back to back championship winning seasons.
The players include RHP Paul Wydom who has 34.1 innings on the year with 3 wins, 4 saves, a 1.22 ERA and 33 SO. Next up is LHP Devin Perlman who has 30 IP with 4 wins and 49 SO with a 1.63 SOIP. CF Zach Hatfield and RF Kevin Falvey were both nominated as well. Hatfield is batting .286 with 16 hits and 5 3B and 12 SB as well as his lightning speed in CF. Falvey is batting .371 posting a .629 SLG % with 13 singles, 4 doubles and 1 HR, he has a league leading 4 assists in RF. Catcher and 2022 YBL MVP Cam Plank will be playing in the 2023 ASG batting .298 on 17 hits, 1 HR, 12 RBI's and 9 SB. YBL veteran and 2B Miguel Gonzalez will be apart of the ASG with a batting average of .354 on 17 hits, 4 2B, 14 BB and an OBP of .508.
Matt Rothermel was unanimously voted into the 2023 ASG but will have to miss it due to a business trip. Rothermel is 2nd in the league in batting average at .460, hits at 23 and OBP of .554. (Leaders w/ .462, 24 hits and .592 OBP). Not only is Rothermel dominating at the plate, he also is automatic on the mound. He has 4 wins on 5 starts with a 1.85 ERA and 27 SO with 22.2 IP.
