Al Thomas A’s Grabs Lead Late For Victory Over East Boston Knights


Al Thomas snatched the lead late in their 3-1 victory over East Boston Knights on Tuesday. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the sixth when Trevor Derochea homered to left field, scoring two runs.


The pitching was strong on both sides. Rookie Tim Cooper went the distance for Al Thomas striking out 11 batters.


Al Thomas was the first to get on the board in the first when Matt Rothermel grounded out, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning


Tim Cooper earned the win for Al Thomas A’s. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking four. Max Tarlin led things off on the mound for East Boston Knights. They allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking two.


Derochea provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Al Thomas A’s with two runs batted in. Rothermel, Vandette, Colmenares, Derochea, and Cam Plank each collected one hit for Al Thomas A’s. Al Thomas was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Rothermel went 1 for 2 in his comeback game after missing the last 6 games with an injury.
